2nd graders, tanning, and the wonderful life of grounding...

Yeah, it's been a while since I've updated... yeah yeah yeah. Get off me! The life of an ex-high schooler can be brutal. Let's see... my daily schedule:

- Sleep until 10:30ish
- Get up, get ready for the day
- Go eat lunch with my boyfriend, if he's not on the farm working
- Do stuff around the house
- Go tan
- Go to the varisty girls/boys basketball games in Lubbock, one of them usually plays every night, or every other night.
- Go home and go to bed

Yeah, it's a hard life, but someone has to live it! :-)

Ok... I believe that I have decided to stick with my original plan of teaching high school math. I don't think I have the patience to deal with kindergardeners, if I can't deal with my 2nd graders. I've been helping with the basketball camp this week, and I'm in charge of the 2nd graders. They are so MEAN to each other! And they won't follow directions, and their attention span is about as long as my pinky fingernail, which I don't have a problem with that, but they won't focus... ever! Even right after they have a break, they go back and sit in their spots instead of standing up and getting into tripple threat, even after we tell them to get into tripple threat, they just look at us and start to dribble. I thought I had patience, but after 2 hours with these kids everyday, I don't know if I do or not anymore.

This one kid is like my project. His name is Paxton and he's never played basketball before. He's a "soccer kid". Anyway, he's the only left handed one in the bunch, and even though I'm right handed, I've been helping him learn the right form to shoot and stuff. He's so uncoordinated, but he's SUPER cute. He came yesterday not wanting to learn anything, but today was a different story. His dad was there the whole time, which was weird, but he was eager to learn and he finally got his form right and he got a little quicker at his ball handling. I actually felt like I did something of worth when I saw him shoot and he had the right form and his follow through was b-e-a-utiful! All I said was "Good job Paxton... that was GREAT!" and he just got the biggest smile on his face. It was so cute! I think I'm going to take a picture with him and put it on here. He's adorable. I heard some kids making fun of him because he's home schooled, and he's only old enough to be in 1st grade, but he's smart enough(I guess) to be in 2nd grade. I don't know the whole story, but I was sure to make those kids know that if they had nothing nice to say, then they should just not say anything at all. I got some glares, but I guess that comes with the job description, lol.

Another story from the "glory days of camp". There's this kid named James Ore, and he is a mentally messed up kid. He's going into 5th grade, and I swear has the brain of a 4 year old. Evidentally, according to April (Coach Brattain's sister) he's autistic. He constantly is glaring at people and saying things under his breath and yesterday he had just got to camp and me, April and Shae (Coach Brattain) were standing at the front, just watching everyone, and he walked up to the 3 of us and said (glaring I might add) "I'm already mad..." and just walked off. We died laughing. There's nothing we can do about him and we can't really work with him, because he doesn't understand, so he basically does his own thing.

OOOOh, and there are these 2 little girls. One is named Mackenzie(2nd grade) and Courtney(1st grade). Mackenzie is in one of my lines. Anyway, yesterday, Mackenzie shows up with a yellow spaghetti shirt that is showing about 2 inches of her midrift and these short short black shorts. As if that's not enough, she has on one yellow sock and one black sock, with white tennis shoes. She looked more as if she was going to aerobics class than basketball camp. Anyway, that was yesterday. Today she shows up in a black sequined tank top with a short purple skirt and black socks with her white tennis shoes again. Courtney shows up in a pink halter top and matching pink shorts. We couldn't decide which we liked better, but then the biggest kid we have(a 5th grade boy) shows up in sandals, so we decided he took the cake. Why would you send your kid to basketball camp in a skirt or a halter top, or speakin' of... SANDALS?? Haha... it made me laugh.

Yeah, so I have one more day of camp. We'll see how that goes...

So, I started tanning again. I was going in March because we went to Maui for spring break, and I didn't want to burn alive when we got there, and then prom was right around the corner so I kept tanning for that, but then I stopped. However, I'm going on a cruise at the end of July with Tate(my boyfriend of 8 and 1/2 months) and his family, and I want to be tan, again, for that. I went today and fell asleep in the bed. I was listening to my iPod and the next thing I knew the lights had gone out and my time was over. I guess I was more tired than I thought, lol. It's a good thing that those beds have timers on there, or I might have been asleep for a long time and I would have, more than likely, burned, which would have been SUPER fun to deal with throughout camp for the rest of the week.

Ooooh, and I got grounded the Sunday after graduation. I went to the lake with Tate on the Saturday after, and Lance went with us to meet his girlfriend, who was already there. Anyway, I told my parents that we would be home around 4 Sunday afternoon, because that was the original plan. Oh, and Tate and I were staying at his grandparent's house with his grandparents and his aunt and uncle, who were also there for memorial weekend. Anyway, we didn't end up getting home until around 8 because we stayed to eat lunch with his grandparents and it takes about 4 hours to get home from Possom Kingdom. Well we stopped at his house to drop off his crap and he started playing his guitar. I called when we got there and said I'd be home in about 30 minutes, because I thought I would, I didn't realize he was going to play his dang guitar for forever. So, since he lives out in the country, there's not good service out there, therefore my phone doesn't ring... ever. My mom evidently called my phone like 5 times and left me 2 voice mails saying that I needed to get home, then the 2nd one said that I should just stay where I was, because she was coming out to his house to get me. Well, by the time she left that 2nd one, we were already on our way to town. I get home and dad's like "you better call your mom, she's pissed". So I call her and she's totally pissed that I'm home, and she thought that I had checked my voice mail and had purposely not answered when she called, when it DIDN'T RING! So she tells me to turn my phone in(since I'm a "liar") and to go take my sister to the gym, since she has a game the next day and she hangs up on me. I, in turn, get totally bent out of shape and give my phone to my dad, and walk out. Tate decides to just go home, because he didn't want to be there when my mom got there(I don't blame him... even my mom said it was a good thing he wasn't there when she got home). So I go to Coach Brattain's house to get a key, and when I leave, I'm still pissed and I blow through the stop sign at the end of the street. Just my luck, my dad sees the whole thing. So we get to the gym and both of my parents show up. To make this whole part shorter, I get in trouble and instead of just sitting there and taking it, I decided to talk back and I ended up giving some attitude. Had I just sat there, I probably wouldn't have gotten in trouble. But my dad took my car away for 30 days and then asked me a question and I started getting emotional, which turned into attitude(according to my mom) and so she, in turn, took it away for 30 more days. So after it was all said and done, I got my car taken away for 60 days, and my cell phone forever(says my mom). It was a bad day. I didn't get grounded from driving wherever it is my mom needs me to go, but I can't go where I want to go. If I want to go to Tate's... he either has to drive the 10 miles to town and get me then take me back out there, or someone has to take me out there and go back out there and get me or he has to bring me back to town. Yeah, it's a pain in the butt. They did say, however, that if I'm good, that the grounding might get lightened. So yeah, it's been sucky so far. Tate's tired of driving everywhere and always having to come and get me, and I don't blame him. But I'm not grounded from doing things with him, which is good. If I got in more trouble, they would have taken him away from me next, then the summer would have been LOADS of fun! :-)

So yeah, that's what's been going on with me. I hope you've enjoyed my update. It was a long one. I don't know when the next time will be that I'll update. Surely it'll be sooner than this one has been. Have a great summer until I talk to you next!

Sincerely,

Coach Tori

Um... here it goes.

This is my first blog on this site. Woo woo woo hoo. You, sir, are the only person that knows about this site, so I guess I can update for you. It's really late, however, and I have gotten basically no sleep whatsoever these past few days since I had Regional Tennis from Tuesday-Thursday then I got home about midnight last night because I went with my boyfriend's parents to listen to him play at Bob Wills Day in the big town of Turkey, Texas. I'm about to pass out, so as for now, this is all I have to say. Hope you have a great weekend!! :-)
